Abstract

|
The percentage of people entering the 65 and older age group is growing rapidly in Korea and within 65 and older age group, cardiovascular disease remains the major cause of death, and the cost associated with treatment is very high. Although aging is an inevitable part of life, it confronts the largest risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Although numerous studies reported the cardiovascular changes in aged humans, it is difficult to distinguish normal aging from pathologic condition. Therefore we suggest an overview of general cardiovascular aging process and provide comprehensive and basic data for treatment of cardiovascular diseases in aged humans.
